Dell Latitude 7480 for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude 7480 is a 14.0 inch laptop built for professionals who need a compact Windows 10 Home machine. It runs on an Intel Core i7-6600U dual-core processor at 2.6 GHz with 8GB DDR4 memory and Intel HD Graphics 520. A 1TB SATA M.2 SSD provides fast storage access in a thin chassis.

Ports and expansion for a desk setup

Three USB 3.0 ports, one HDMI port and a Thunderbolt 3 USB-C connection handle monitors, docks and peripherals without extra adapters. Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 cover wired and wireless networks. A microSD card reader adds removable storage, while the integrated webcam supports video calls.

Sustained workloads on integrated graphics

The Intel HD Graphics 520 handles office applications and media playback steadily because it shares system memory and thermal budget with the CPU. The 1920 x 1080 non-touch display keeps the pixel count moderate so the integrated GPU maintains consistent frame rates during long sessions. Buyers who need discrete graphics performance or user-replaceable memory should consider other configurations.

Questions about this item

How long does the 1TB SATA M.2 SSD keep its write speed before thermal throttling appears?

The drive uses the SATA interface, so its sustained write speed is limited by the SATA bus rather than controller heat.

What are the fan noise and surface temperatures when the i7-6600U runs at 2.6GHz all day?

The dual-core Skylake CPU has a low TDP, so the cooling system stays quiet and the chassis remains warm but not hot during continuous loads.

Which dock or adapter is required to drive two external monitors from the single Thunderbolt 3 port?

A Thunderbolt 3 dock with dual DisplayPort or HDMI outputs is needed; the laptop has only one Thunderbolt 3 port and one HDMI 1.4 port.
