Latitude 7480 for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude 7480 is a 14.0-inch business laptop built around an Intel Core i7-6600U dual-core processor running at 2.6GHz. It comes with 8GB DDR4 memory and a 256GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD. The Full HD display shows 1920 x 1080 resolution, and Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed.

Suits travellers needing Thunderbolt 3.

This configuration suits people who travel or meet clients and want a slim chassis with HDMI output and a USB-C Thunderbolt 3 port for docks or external drives. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 handles office tasks and video playback but cannot meet the needs of buyers who want discrete graphics performance for rendering or modern gaming.

Deciding spec: 8GB soldered memory

The single specification that decides fit is the 8GB DDR4 capacity, which is not upgradeable on this model. If your workload regularly exceeds that limit — large datasets, multiple virtual machines or heavy multitasking — this unit will bottleneck; otherwise the fast NVMe storage and efficient 2.6GHz processor deliver responsive everyday performance.

Questions about this item

Will the USB-C Thunderbolt 3 port work with my older USB 3.0 dock?

The Thunderbolt 3 port is backward compatible with USB 3.0 devices, so your existing dock will function at USB 3.0 speeds.

How can I verify the NVMe SSD is running at full speed after installing Windows 11 Pro?

Open Task Manager, select the Performance tab, choose the 256GB NVMe drive and confirm the active link shows PCIe and a transfer rate consistent with NVMe.

Does the box contain a MicroSD card or do I need to buy one separately?

The package includes the laptop, charger and battery; a MicroSD card is not supplied and must be purchased separately.
