Dell Latitude 7480 i7-6600U

The Dell Latitude 7480 is a 14.0" business laptop built around a dual-core Intel Core i7-6600U processor at 2.6GHz. It ships with 8GB DDR4 memory, a 512GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD, and a 1920 x 1080 non-touch FHD display. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 drives the screen and external outputs.

Suits mobile professionals needing Thunderbolt 3

This configuration serves users who rely on a single USB-C Thunderbolt 3 port for docks or high-speed peripherals and an HDMI port for projectors or external monitors. Buyers who need more than 8GB of memory, a dedicated graphics processor, or a touchscreen should look elsewhere.

512GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD decides fit

The 512GB NVMe PCIe M.2 solid-state drive determines whether this unit meets storage speed and capacity requirements. If the workload demands a larger drive or a second internal slot, this laptop will not match that need.

Questions about this item

What thermal limit appears first when the Intel Core i7-6600U runs at full load for extended periods?

The dual-core 2.6 GHz processor with 4 MB L2 cache and integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 shares a single cooling solution, so sustained workloads hit the CPU temperature ceiling before the GPU becomes the bottleneck.

How loud and hot does the 14.0 inch chassis get when the system runs all day on Windows 10?

The slim black Latitude 7480 uses a compact fan to cool the 6th generation i7 and integrated graphics; under continuous load the fan spins up audibly and the keyboard deck warms noticeably, though the 512 GB NVMe SSD stays cool.

Which cable or adapter must I already own to drive an external monitor at 1920 x 1080 over the video outputs?

The laptop provides one HDMI port and one USB-C Thunderbolt 3 port; a standard HDMI cable or a USB-C to DisplayPort adapter will connect a 1080p display without extra hardware.
