Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

This laptop suits mobile professionals who need a lightweight 14 inch chassis with Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI for docks or projectors. The 32GB memory supports heavy multitasking and the 1TB NVMe drive offers fast storage. Buyers who want a touchscreen or a discrete graphics card should look elsewhere. The integrated graphics limit 3D performance and the panel is non touch.

Deciding specification: Thunderbolt 3 over USB C

The single specification that decides fit is the Thunderbolt 3 port over USB C. It provides high speed data transfer and video output through one connector. If your workflow depends on Thunderbolt docks or external GPUs this port is essential. If you only need standard USB 3.0 the feature adds no value.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the Core i7-6600U and Intel HD Graphics 520 get during all-day use?

The 2.6 GHz dual-core processor and integrated graphics run typical office workloads quietly; fan noise increases only under sustained heavy load.

Which cables or peripherals must I already own to use the Thunderbolt 3 USB-C, HDMI and USB 3.0 ports?

You need a Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C cable for the Type-C port, an HDMI cable for external displays, and standard USB-A cables for the three USB 3.0 ports.

Will my older USB-A drives, HDMI monitor and Bluetooth 4.2 headset work with this Latitude 7480?

Yes — three USB 3.0 Type-A ports accept legacy drives, the HDMI output drives older monitors at 1920 x 1080, and Bluetooth 4.2 pairs with existing headsets.
