Business laptop with touchscreen

This 14-inch Dell Latitude 7490 runs Windows 11 Pro on an Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor with 16GB DDR4 memory and a 1TB NVMe PCIe solid-state drive. The Full HD touchscreen panel supports 1920 x 1080 resolution and the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles everyday visual tasks.

Suited for mobile professionals needing a compact

It serves users who value a lightweight chassis, built-in webcam, HDMI output, USB-C 3.1 Gen 1 port and Gigabit Ethernet for docked or travelling workflows. Buyers who want a dedicated graphics processor, a screen larger than 14 inches, or a higher wireless standard than 802.11ac should look at something else.

Quad-core i7-8650U with 8MB cache

The 15W processor delivers four cores and eight threads at a 1.9GHz base frequency, providing enough throughput for office applications, video calls and light content creation while maintaining cool, quiet operation in the slim chassis.

Questions about this item

What size M.2 slot does the 1TB NVMe drive occupy in the Latitude 7490?

The 1TB drive uses the laptop's single M.2 PCIe slot. No second M.2 socket is present, so storage expansion requires replacing this module.

Which screw must be removed before lifting the bottom cover to access internals?

Remove the eight perimeter screws and the single centre screw hidden under the centre rubber foot; missing the hidden screw is the common error that cracks the cover.

When should the 16GB DDR4 memory be upgraded instead of relying on the soldered portion?

All 16GB is soldered to the board; there is no SO-DIMM slot. If more memory is needed later, the entire mainboard must be replaced.
