14-inch business laptop with 32 GB memory

The Dell Latitude 7480 combines a 14.0 inch Full HD display with an Intel Core i7-6600U dual-core processor, 32 GB DDR4 memory and a 512 GB SATA M.2 SSD. It ships with Windows 10 Pro and includes HDMI, Thunderbolt 3, USB 3.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet and a webcam for office and travel use.

Mobile professionals needing Thunderbolt 3

This unit suits users who want a lightweight 14 inch chassis with Thunderbolt 3 docking capability and ample memory for multitasking. Buyers requiring a touchscreen, discrete graphics or a newer processor generation should consider other models.

SATA M.2 SSD defines storage speed

The 512 GB drive uses the SATA interface on an M.2 form factor, so sequential transfer rates are limited to SATA speeds rather than faster PCIe protocols. Verify that your workflow accepts this bandwidth before purchase.

Questions about this item

How often will the 512GB SATA M.2 SSD need replacement under typical workloads?

The 512GB SATA M.2 SSD has no moving parts and is rated for years of daily read and write cycles; most users will not need a replacement during the laptop's usable life.

Which component hits its limit first when the Intel Core i7-6600U runs at 2.6 GHz continuously?

The integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 shares system memory and thermal budget with the dual-core processor, so sustained heavy graphics workloads will throttle before the CPU reaches its maximum frequency.

How loud does the cooling fan get when the 32GB DDR4 configuration is under all-day load?

The thin chassis forces the fan to spin faster during prolonged high CPU usage, producing noticeable but not disruptive airflow noise typical for a 14.0" business ultrabook.
