Travel-ready 14.0 inch business laptop

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14.0 inch laptop built for professionals who work away from a desk. An Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor with 8MB cache and 8GB DDR4 memory handles office applications and multitasking. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the 1920 x 1080 FHD non-touch display. Windows 10 Home comes pre-installed.

Upgrade from dual-core or hard-drive systems

This unit replaces older dual-core ultrabooks or hard-drive laptops that struggle with modern workloads. The 256GB M.2 SATA SSD cuts boot and application load times compared to spinning drives. The jump is worth it when daily tasks involve multiple browser tabs, video calls and document editing on the move. Buyers who need discrete graphics or more than 8GB memory should look elsewhere.

Connectivity and expansion for mobile workflows

Thunderbolt 3 over USB-C adds dock and high-speed storage options without a proprietary connector. HDMI output connects directly to projectors and meeting-room displays. Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 cover wired and wireless networks. Three USB 3.0 ports and a microSD reader handle peripherals and media offload. The package includes laptop, charger and battery.

Questions about this item

What are the dimensions of the 14.0 inch chassis so I can check bag fit?

The 14.0 inch Dell Latitude 7490 uses a slim black chassis designed for travel; exact height, width and depth figures are not in the supplied data.

How do I install the M.2 SATA SSD and what step is often missed?

Remove the base cover, insert the 256GB M.2 SATA SSD at an angle into the keyed slot, press down and secure with the single screw; people often forget to re-seat the battery connector before closing the case.

When will the 8GB DDR4 memory or the 256GB M.2 SATA SSD need replacement?

The 8GB DDR4 is soldered and not upgradeable; the 256GB M.2 SATA SSD can be swapped later if capacity or health monitoring indicates wear.
