Dell Latitude 7490 14-inch business laptop

This Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14-inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor. It ships with Windows 11 Pro, 8GB of DDR4 memory and a 512GB M.2 SATA SSD. The non-touch display delivers a 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles visual output. Connectivity includes Thunderbolt 3, HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11ac Wi-Fi with Bluetooth 4.2.

Suits mobile professionals needing legacy ports

The 14.0-inch form factor and traditional port selection suit travellers who still rely on HDMI, full-size USB 3.0 and a microSD reader. Buyers who want a touchscreen, a higher refresh-rate panel or discrete graphics should look elsewhere. The 8GB memory is soldered, so users planning heavy multitasking or virtual machines will hit a ceiling. No optical drive is fitted.

Charger and battery included for immediate

The box contains the laptop, a compatible charger and the internal battery already installed. No docking station, external peripherals or recovery media are bundled. Windows 11 Pro is pre-activated, so the machine is ready for domain join or Intune enrolment without extra licences. The Thunderbolt 3 port enables future dock or eGPU expansion if workflows change.

Questions about this item

What operating system must I already have licences for if I plan to downgrade from the pre-installed Windows 11 Pro?

The laptop ships with Windows 11 Pro 64-bit; any earlier Windows version would require its own valid licence and installation media.

Will my existing USB 3.0 Type-A peripherals work with the three USB 3.0 ports and the Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port?

Yes, all three USB 3.0 Type-A ports accept standard USB 3.0 devices, and the Thunderbolt 3 port supports USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C accessories plus Thunderbolt 3 docks.

How can I confirm the Intel Core i7-8650U is reaching its 4.2 GHz turbo frequency under load?

Open Task Manager’s Performance tab or a tool such as HWMonitor while running a demanding task; the CPU clock should show speeds up to 4.2 GHz on active cores.
