Compact 14-inch business ultrabook

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14.0-inch Full HD laptop built for professionals who need a lightweight Windows 11 Pro machine. It combines an 8th Generation Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor with 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 256 GB SSD. The IPS panel delivers a 1920 x 1080 resolution in a non-touch format.

Suited for mobile office work, not heavy graphics

This ultrabook serves mobile workers, students and administrators who prioritise portability, a crisp 14-inch display and fast boot times from solid-state storage. Buyers who need discrete graphics performance for rendering, gaming or CAD should look at a workstation-class device with a dedicated GPU. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles general productivity and video playback only.

Quad-core i5-8350U with 16 GB DDR4

The processor runs at a 1.7 GHz base frequency with a 3.60 GHz maximum turbo across four cores and eight threads, paired with 16 GB of DDR4 RAM. This combination determines how smoothly the system handles multitasking and typical business applications. Verify that the core count, clock speeds and memory capacity match your workload requirements before purchase.

Questions about this item

How loud does the fan get when the i5-8350U runs at 3.60 GHz all day?

The quad-core processor reaches 3.60 GHz turbo speed; under continuous load the cooling system spins up but remains at office-friendly levels.

Which cables or docks do I need to drive an external monitor from the USB Type-C port?

The USB Type-C connector carries DisplayPort 1.2 video, so a USB-C to DisplayPort or USB-C to HDMI cable or dock is sufficient.

Can I keep using my older USB 3.0 flash drives and HDMI monitor with the three USB 3.1 Gen1 ports and HDMI output?

Yes, the three USB 3.1 Gen1 ports are backward compatible with USB 3.0 devices, and the HDMI port works with any standard HDMI display.
