14-inch FHD IPS business ultrabook

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14-inch Full HD IPS ultrabook built for mobile professionals who need a compact, durable workstation. It runs Windows 11 Pro on an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor with 32 GB of DDR4 memory and a 512 GB SSD. The non-touch display offers 1920 x 1080 resolution in a thin-border chassis.

Suited for office multitasking.

This configuration suits knowledge workers who run multiple browser tabs, Office apps and video calls simultaneously. Buyers who want more storage than 512 GB or who need discrete graphics for 3D work, video editing or gaming should look at a different system. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles general productivity and external displays only.

Quad-core i5-8350U with 32 GB DDR4

The deciding specification is the 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor paired with 32 GB of DDR4 RAM. This combination delivers enough threads and memory headroom for heavy multitasking and virtual machines. If your workload demands more cores, higher clock speeds or dedicated GPU acceleration, this ultrabook will not meet those requirements.

Questions about this item

Can the i5-8350U and 32 GB DDR4 memory run alongside my older DDR4 SO-DIMM modules?

The system ships with 32 GB DDR4 already installed, filling both slots, so any older sticks would need to be removed rather than combined.

How can I verify the i5-8350U is reaching its 3.60 GHz boost and the Intel UHD Graphics 620 is active after setup?

Open Task Manager’s Performance tab to confirm the processor hits 3.60 GHz under load and that Intel UHD Graphics 620 appears as the display adapter.

Does the box include the USB-C power adapter and an HDMI cable, or must I buy them separately?

The laptop comes with its USB-C power adapter; an HDMI cable is not included and must be purchased separately if required.
