Dell Latitude 7490 business laptop

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14.0 inch business laptop built for professionals who need a portable Windows 10 Pro machine with an 8th generation Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor. It suits mobile workers and office users who value a durable chassis, integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620, and a Full HD 1920 x 1080 non-touch display for everyday productivity.

16 GB DDR4 memory and 256 GB NVMe SSD

The system ships with 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 256 GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD, providing enough headroom for multitasking across office applications, web browsers and video calls. Heavy local data sets, large media libraries or virtual machines will exceed the available storage, and the integrated graphics limit 3D rendering or GPU-accelerated workloads.

Thunderbolt 3 over USB-C decides connectivity

A single Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port handles charging, high-speed data and external displays, while HDMI, three USB 3.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet and a microSD reader cover legacy peripherals. Buyers who need multiple Thunderbolt devices, a dedicated GPU or a touchscreen should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Will my existing USB 3.0 peripherals work with the three USB 3.0 ports on this Latitude 7490?

Yes, the three USB 3.0 ports are backward compatible with earlier USB devices, so your current peripherals will connect and function normally.

How can I verify the Core i7-8650U is reaching its 4.2 GHz turbo frequency after setup?

Open Task Manager’s Performance tab or a monitoring utility and watch the CPU clock speed under load; it should show speeds up to 4.2 GHz when thermal headroom allows.

Does the box include a Thunderbolt 3 cable or dock, or must I buy those separately?

The package contains the laptop, charger and battery only; any Thunderbolt 3 cables, docks or adapters are sold separately.
