Dell Latitude 7490 14" business laptop

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14-inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-8650U processor running at 1.90 GHz. It comes with 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 256 GB SSD for fast boot and application load times. The 14.0 inch Full HD anti-glare display runs at 1920 x 1080 resolution without touch input. Windows 11 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed and ready for professional use.

Suits mobile professionals needing legacy ports

This configuration suits mobile professionals who need a full set of legacy ports including HDMI 1.4, RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet and three USB 3.1 Gen1 ports alongside a USB Type-C port with DisplayPort output. Buyers who require a dedicated graphics card for 3D rendering or modern gaming titles should look elsewhere. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 uses shared system memory and is intended for productivity and video playback. Users wanting a touchscreen or a lighter ultraportable below 1.4 kg will not find those features here.

16 GB DDR4 with two slots expandable to 32 GB

The single most decisive specification is the memory configuration: 16 GB of DDR4 installed across two slots with a maximum supported capacity of 32 GB. This allows an immediate upgrade path by adding or replacing modules without discarding existing memory. If your workload demands more than 32 GB of RAM or requires user-replaceable storage beyond the single 256 GB SSD, this chassis does not support it.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 16 GB DDR4 configuration or plan to upgrade to the 32 GB maximum?

The system ships with 16 GB DDR4 across two slots; the board supports up to 32 GB DDR4 total, so adding another matched module later is possible if workloads demand it.

What does the 1.9 GHz i7-8650U actually deliver in everyday workloads?

The quad-core 1.9 GHz processor with Turbo Boost handles typical office multitasking, web browsing and video playback smoothly; sustained heavy loads will throttle to manage thermals in the 14" chassis.

How does the HDMI 1.4 port limit external display options?

HDMI 1.4 caps output at 1920 x 1080 resolution; the USB-C DisplayPort alternate mode can drive higher-resolution monitors when needed.
