Questions about this item

How do I add memory to the Latitude 7490, and which step catches people out?

Remove the base cover, insert the DDR4 2400 SO-DIMM into the free slot at an angle, then press down until the clips click; the step often missed is removing the battery cable first.

What will need replacement on this Latitude 7490 after a few years of daily use?

The 4-cell 60W battery is the first component that wears out; the 512GB SSD and 16GB DDR4 memory are solid-state and rarely fail.

Which limit appears first when the i7-8650U runs flat-out for a long period?

The 15 W TDP forces the processor to drop from its 4.20 GHz turbo to the 1.90 GHz base clock once the cooling saturates.
