Latitude 7490 business laptop

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14.0 inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor. It ships with 16GB of memory and a 512GB SSD running 64-bit Windows 11 Pro. The non-touch FHD display resolves at 1920 x 1080. It suits mobile professionals who need a reliable daily driver.

Capacity and headroom

The 16GB memory and 512GB SSD provide solid headroom for multitasking, large documents and typical business applications. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 uses shared system memory and handles office workloads, video playback and light creative tasks comfortably. Demanding 3D rendering, modern gaming or heavy GPU compute will exceed the graphics capability.

Upgrade context

This unit replaces older dual-core ultrabooks or spinning-disk laptops where memory was soldered at 8GB or less. The jump is worth it when you need four responsive cores, 16GB RAM and fast SSD storage in a 14.0 inch chassis. Buyers who require discrete graphics, user-replaceable parts or a larger screen should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Will the 14.0" FHD screen and Intel UHD Graphics 620 work with my older 1080p external monitor over HDMI?

The 1920 x 1080 panel and Intel UHD Graphics 620 support standard HDMI output, so a 1080p external display will run at its native resolution without scaling issues.

How can I verify the Intel Core i7-8650U and 16GB memory are recognised correctly after first boot?

Open Task Manager → Performance tab; you should see four cores, eight logical processors, 8 MB L3 cache, base clock 1.90 GHz and 16 GB RAM reported by Windows 11 Pro.

Does the box include a power adapter or must I buy one separately?

The unit ships with a compatible DELL AC adapter; no separate charger purchase is required.
