14" Business Laptop i7-8650U

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14-inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor running at 1.90 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 4.2 GHz. It comes with 8GB DDR4 memory and a 256GB M.2 SATA SSD. The 1920 x 1080 FHD non-touch display and Windows 11 Pro make it ready for office work.

Suits mobile professionals, not heavy creators

This laptop suits professionals who need a lightweight 14.0" device for travel, client meetings and general productivity. Thunderbolt 3, HDMI and Gigabit Ethernet handle docking and presentations. It is not for buyers who want more storage, a dedicated GPU for creative workloads, a touchscreen, or user-upgradeable memory.

256GB M.2 SATA SSD capacity

The single specification that decides fit is the 256GB M.2 SATA SSD. It determines how much local data the system can hold before external drives or cloud storage become necessary. Buyers needing a larger internal drive should look at a different configuration.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 8 GB DDR4 and 256 GB M.2 SATA SSD configuration or look for a larger capacity?

The 8 GB DDR4 handles everyday multitasking and the 256 GB M.2 SATA SSD gives quick boot and app loads; if you store large media libraries locally you may want more space.

What does the 1.9 GHz base clock with 4.2 GHz Turbo Boost mean for daily work?

The quad-core i7-8650U runs at 1.9 GHz for light tasks and boosts to 4.2 GHz for short bursts like compiling code or exporting video, balancing speed and battery life.

What can the Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port actually drive?

The Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port carries data, video and charging; it supports external GPUs, high-speed storage and up to two 4K displays through a single cable.
