DELL Latitude 7490 14" Business Laptop

The DELL Latitude 7490 is a 14.0 inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-8250U processor running at 1.60 GHz. It comes with 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 128 GB SSD for the operating system and files. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed. The 1920 x 1080 non-touch display uses integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 with shared system memory.

Suits mobile professionals needing a managed

This configuration suits professionals who need a managed Windows 10 Pro device with a full-size backlit keyboard, HDMI 1.4 output, and Gigabit Ethernet for docked or desk use. The two memory slots support up to 32 GB DDR4 for future upgrades. Buyers who need a touchscreen, discrete graphics, or a larger onboard drive should look at other models. The 720p webcam and Bluetooth 4.1 cover standard video calls and peripheral connections.

128 GB SSD capacity is the limiting factor

The single specification that decides fit is the 128 GB SSD. It holds the OS and essential applications, but leaves little room for large media libraries, local backups, or virtual machines. Users who store projects locally will need external storage or a larger drive swap. The 8 GB DDR4 baseline handles typical office multitasking, while the second slot allows expansion to 32 GB if workloads grow.

Questions about this item

Will the Intel Core i5-8250U throttle under a continuous heavy workload?

The processor has a 1.60 GHz base frequency and relies on the laptop's thermal design to manage sustained loads.

How loud and hot does the Latitude 7490 get when running all day?

It uses integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 and a fan-cooled chassis; typical office use stays quiet while heavy tasks increase fan speed and surface temperature.

What must I already own to use the external video output?

The laptop provides one HDMI 1.4 port and DisplayPort over USB Type-C, so you need a monitor or projector with a matching HDMI or DisplayPort input and the appropriate cable.
