Ready-to-deploy business laptop

The Dell Latitude E5450 ships with an Intel Core i5-5300U dual-core processor at 2.30 GHz, 16 GB DDR3 memory and a new 500 GB SATA SSD. It arrives without an operating system so IT teams can install their standard image immediately.

14.0 inch FHD non-touch chassis

The 1920 x 1080 display gives clear text for documents and web apps while the matte finish reduces glare under office lighting. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 drives the panel and supports external monitors through the available video outputs.

Upgrade from slower mechanical drives

Replacing a traditional hard drive with the included 500 GB SSD cuts boot time and application launch delays for daily productivity workloads. The 16 GB memory ceiling matches the factory maximum, so buyers needing more RAM should consider a different platform.

Questions about this item

What is the SATA interface speed cap for the 2.5" 500GB SSD in the Dell Latitude E5450?

The 2.5" 500GB SSD uses a SATA connection. SATA III tops out at 6 Gb/s, so real-world sequential speeds will not exceed roughly 550 MB/s regardless of the drive model.

What physical drive bay and memory slots does the Latitude E5450 provide for the 500GB SSD and 16GB DDR3?

The laptop has one 2.5" SATA bay for the 500GB SSD and two DDR3 SO-DIMM slots, both occupied to reach the 16GB maximum.

How is the 500GB SATA SSD installed in the E5450, and which step do people often miss?

Remove the bottom cover, slide the 2.5" SSD into the SATA bay and secure it with the caddy screws. Many forget to re-seat the battery connector before closing the case.
