Business laptop with 14" HD display

The Dell Latitude E5450 is a 14.0 inch business laptop built around a 5th Gen Intel Core i5-5300U processor. It ships with 8GB DDR3L memory and a 500GB 2.5" SATA hard drive. Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit comes pre-installed for immediate productivity.

Thermals and power in office use

The ultra-low-voltage Core i5-5300U runs at a 1.9 GHz base frequency with Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 for short bursts. Integrated graphics keep heat output modest during document editing, web browsing and video conferencing. Fan noise stays low in typical desk environments.

Included connections and software

VGA and HDMI outputs let you attach external monitors or projectors without adapters. A built-in webcam supports video calls on Microsoft Teams or Zoom. The DVD-RW drive reads and writes optical media for legacy archives. Windows 10 Pro adds BitLocker encryption and domain join for managed IT environments.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 2.5" 500 GB SATA hard drive and what step is often missed?

Remove the bottom cover, slide the drive into the caddy, secure it with the four screws, and connect the SATA cable; the step often missed is tightening the caddy screws before refitting the cover.

What maintenance or replacement will the 8 GB DDR3L memory need later?

The DDR3L modules are not user-serviceable; if a fault develops the whole board must be replaced by a technician.

What limit appears first on the Intel Core i5-5300U during sustained loads?

The processor reaches its thermal ceiling and reduces clock speeds to stay within its power envelope.
