Built for everyday work

The Dell Latitude E5450 is a 14.0 inch HD laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-5300U dual-core processor running at 2.30 GHz with a turbo frequency of 2.90 GHz. It comes with 8GB of DDR3 memory and a new 128GB 2.5 inch SATA SSD. The system ships without an operating system so the buyer installs their preferred version of Windows or another OS.

Thermals and power in daily use

The low-voltage processor and integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 keep heat output modest during typical office tasks and web browsing. Fan noise stays low under light loads and the compact chassis dissipates warmth without requiring extra cooling measures. Power draw remains efficient for a mobile platform of this class.

Fitting into your setup

The 1366 x 768 non-touch display and standard 2.5 inch SATA drive bay make the unit straightforward to service or upgrade storage later. Two memory slots support up to 16 GB of DDR3 if more RAM is needed later. Built-in webcam and Bluetooth handle video calls and peripherals without additional dongles.

Questions about this item

How do I install the operating system on this laptop since it ships without one?

Create a bootable USB drive with your chosen OS, enter the BIOS at startup, set the USB as the first boot device, then follow the on-screen setup steps.

What memory upgrades are possible later with the two DDR3 slots?

The two slots support up to 16 GB total DDR3, so you can add or replace modules to reach that limit.

What thermal limit appears first when the i5-5300U runs at 2.90 GHz for long periods?

The dual-core processor will hit its thermal ceiling and throttle clock speeds to stay within its power envelope.
