Ready for daily business tasks

The Dell Latitude E5491 pairs an Intel Core i5-8400H processor with 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 256 GB solid-state drive. A 14.0-inch non-touch display at 1366 x 768 resolution provides a functional workspace for office applications and web browsing. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed, making the system ready for immediate deployment in managed environments. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 handles standard video playback and multi-monitor output.

Display and connectivity limits

The HD panel tops out at 1366 x 768 pixels, so fine-detail work or side-by-side windows will feel cramped compared to higher-resolution screens. Video output relies on shared system memory, limiting performance in graphics-intensive tasks or when driving multiple external displays. Wireless connectivity uses a dual-band 802.11ac adapter with Bluetooth 4.1, which may not match the throughput or range of newer Wi-Fi standards. The single HDMI port and DisplayPort over USB Type-C offer basic external monitor support without advanced docking bandwidth.

Durable chassis with legacy ports

A carbon-fibre reinforced polymer lid and magnesium-alloy base keep the unit rigid while weighing 3.6300 kg, suitable for frequent transport. The keyboard is full-size with backlighting and includes a track stick for pointer control without leaving the home row. Ports include three USB 3.1 Gen 1 sockets, one with PowerShare, plus VGA, RJ-45 and a microSD 4.0 card reader for broad peripheral compatibility. Two memory slots allow expansion up to 32 GB DDR4, though the battery is sealed and not user-replaceable.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 8 GB / 256 GB model or look for a larger capacity?

The unit ships with 8 GB DDR4 and a 256 GB SSD. Two memory slots support up to 32 GB DDR4 total, so you can add a second module later if you need more RAM.

What does the 2.50 GHz Core i5-8400H actually deliver in daily use?

The 2.50 GHz quad-core processor with Intel UHD Graphics 630 handles office applications, web browsing and video playback smoothly; shared system memory means graphics borrow from the 8 GB RAM pool.

Which ports limit my external display options?

HDMI and DisplayPort over USB Type-C are available; both support external monitors, while the three USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports handle peripherals and one provides PowerShare charging.
