Latitude E6520 business laptop

The Dell Latitude E6520 is a 15.6-inch business laptop built around an Intel Core i7-2620M dual-core processor running at 2.70 GHz with 8 GB of DDR3 memory. It ships with Windows 10 Professional 64-bit pre-installed and a 2.5-inch 1 TB SATA hard drive for local storage. A DVD±RW optical drive handles legacy media. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000 drives the HD+ LED-backlit display.

Sustained workload behaviour

The dual-core CPU with Hyper-Threading and 6 MB of L3 cache manages typical office multitasking and web browsing without thermal throttling during extended sessions. Integrated graphics share system memory, so heavy video editing or 3D rendering will hit bandwidth limits quickly. The mechanical hard drive adds latency compared with solid-state storage when loading large projects or booting the operating system.

Build, security and daily connectivity

A charcoal-gray chassis houses a Trusted Platform Module 1.2 security chip for hardware-based encryption support. Video output is provided through VGA and HDMI ports for external monitors or projectors. Wired networking uses Gigabit Ethernet while wireless relies on Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 supporting 802.11 a/b/g/n and Bluetooth. An integrated webcam covers video conferencing needs.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the Intel Core i7-2620M get under all-day load?

The dual-core Intel Core i7-2620M runs at 2.70 GHz with a 6 MB L3 cache and integrated Intel HD 3000 graphics. Under sustained load the processor and chipset generate noticeable heat; the chassis fans spin up to manage thermals and the base stays warm to the touch.

What must I already own to start working with this Latitude E6520?

The laptop ships with Windows 10 Pro 64-bit pre-installed, 8 GB DDR3 memory, a 1 TB SATA hard drive and a DVD±RW drive. Only the AC adapter and a power outlet are required to boot and run the system.

Will my older VGA monitor and wired network cable work with this E6520?

Yes. The unit provides a VGA port and a 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet jack, so legacy displays and wired LAN connections are supported directly.
