Ready for office work

The Dell Latitude E6520 is a 15.6-inch laptop built around a dual-core Intel Core i7-2620M processor running at 2.70GHz with 8GB of DDR3 memory. It ships with Windows 10 Pro 64-bit installed and includes a 500GB SATA hard drive plus a DVD-RW optical drive. The integrated Intel HD 3000 graphics handle everyday display tasks on the HD+ LED panel. A Trusted Platform Module 1.2 security chip is fitted as standard.

Cooling and power profile

The mobile QM67 chipset and integrated graphics keep heat output modest during typical document and web workloads. Fan noise stays low when the system is not under sustained heavy load. Power draw is consistent with a dual-core mobile processor and a mechanical hard drive. The 15.6-inch LED backlit display draws less power than older CCFL panels.

Chassis and daily connectivity

The charcoal grey chassis provides VGA and HDMI outputs for external monitors or projectors. A built-in webcam supports video calls while Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi cover wired and wireless networks. Bluetooth 3.0 connects peripherals such as mice or headsets. The DVD-RW drive reads and writes legacy optical media. The 2.5-inch drive bay allows straightforward storage replacement if required.

Questions about this item

How do I install additional DDR3 memory and what step do people often miss?

The laptop supports up to 8 GB of DDR3 SDRAM and ships with 8 GB already installed, so there is no free slot for an upgrade without removing the existing modules.

Which component will need replacement first under normal use?

The 2.5-inch 500 GB SATA hard drive is the only mechanical part and typically fails before the solid-state components.

What thermal limit appears first during sustained heavy workloads?

The Intel Core i7-2620M dual-core processor with 6 MB L3 cache will throttle its 2.70 GHz turbo speed once the cooling system reaches its capacity.
