Business-class laptop with Core i7-2620M

The Dell Latitude E6520 is a 15.6-inch notebook built around a dual-core Intel Core i7-2620M processor running at 2.20 GHz with 6 MB of L3 cache. It ships with 8 GB of DDR3 memory and a 256 GB SATA SSD, plus Windows 10 Pro 64-bit pre-installed. The integrated Intel HD 3000 graphics drive the HD+ LED-backlit display.

Charcoal-gray chassis with TPM 1.2 and legacy ports

A Trusted Platform Module 1.2 security chip is integrated on the motherboard for hardware-based encryption. Video output is provided through VGA and HDMI connectors, while a DVD-RW drive handles optical media. The 15.6-inch non-touch panel uses LED backlighting, and the system includes a webcam, Gigabit Ethernet, and Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 wireless.

Replaces older Core 2 Duo machines for office

The jump from a previous-generation dual-core to this 2nd Gen Core i7 with Hyper-Threading delivers noticeably snappier multitasking for document, browser, and legacy business applications. The SATA SSD cuts boot and load times versus a mechanical drive. Buyers who need more than 8 GB of memory or a discrete GPU should consider other platforms.

Questions about this item

What speed does the SATA interface limit the 256 GB SSD to?

The 2.5" 256 GB SATA SSD connects through the QM67 chipset's SATA link, which sets the practical throughput ceiling for the drive.

What chassis clearance does the 15.6" display and DVD-RW require?

The 15.6" LED backlit lid and internal DVD±RW drive define the E6520's full-size footprint, so any sleeve or dock must accommodate that width and depth.

How is the pre-installed Windows 10 Pro 64-bit activated after a clean SSD reinstall?

The TPM 1.2 security chip stores the OEM licence; boot the Dell media and the OS activates automatically without a product key entry.
