Dell Latitude E7470 14 inch FHD laptop

The Dell Latitude E7470 is a 14.0 inch FHD laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-6300U dual-core processor running at 2.40 GHz with a 3.00 GHz turbo frequency. It comes with 16GB DDR4 memory and a new 500GB SATA SSD. The system ships with no operating system installed.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

This laptop suits buyers who need a 14 inch FHD display, 16GB RAM and a 500GB SSD in a compact business chassis. It is not for users who require a touchscreen, a discrete graphics processor, more than 16GB of memory or a pre-installed operating system.

500GB 2.5 inch SATA SSD storage

The single specification that decides fit is the 500GB 2.5 inch SATA SSD. It determines the total capacity available for the operating system and files and confirms the drive interface for any future storage changes.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 2.5" SATA SSD and which step is often missed?

Fit the 500GB 2.5" SATA drive into the internal bay, connect the data and power cables, then secure the caddy screws; the step often missed is tightening the caddy screws before replacing the bottom cover.

What maintenance will the 16GB DDR4 memory need later?

The 16GB DDR4 is already at the 16 GB maximum supported, so no memory upgrade is possible; only occasional dust removal from the two slots is needed.

What limit appears first during sustained loads on the Intel HD Graphics 520?

Thermal throttling of the i5-6300U at 2.40 GHz with 3.00 GHz turbo is the first limit under sustained use, reducing clock speeds to manage heat.
