What this laptop is and who it suits

The Dell Latitude E7470 is a 14.0 inch ultrabook with a 2560 x 1440 QHD touchscreen, an Intel Core i7-6600U dual-core processor reaching 3.4 GHz, 8 GB DDR4 memory and a 256 GB SSD. It runs Windows 10 Pro and targets professionals who need a secure, portable machine for office productivity and light creative work.

Build, connectors and daily use

A magnesium alloy chassis and Corning Gorilla Glass protect the display, while a spill-resistant backlit keyboard supports comfortable typing. Video output uses one HDMI port and one Mini DisplayPort for external monitors. An SD 4.0 card reader, one USB 3.0 PowerShare port, two additional USB 3.0 ports and a docking connector cover peripheral and desk-docking needs.

What to verify before ordering

Memory uses two SO-DIMM slots with a 16 GB maximum, so confirm whether the current 8 GB configuration meets your workload or if an upgrade is required. Graphics rely on Intel HD Graphics 5500 with shared system memory, which limits 3D and heavy rendering tasks. Check that your existing monitors and docks accept HDMI or Mini DisplayPort inputs.

Questions about this item

What resolution does the Mini DisplayPort output support?

The Mini DisplayPort and HDMI ports can drive external monitors at up to the panel's native 2560 x 1440 resolution.

What are the exact chassis dimensions for a sleeve or dock?

The 14.0 inch ultrabook uses a magnesium alloy chassis with an edge-to-edge display; it fits standard 14 inch sleeves and the Dell E-Family docking connector.

How is the 256 GB SSD installed, and what mistake should I avoid?

The drive occupies the single M.2 slot; do not look for a 2.5 inch bay because the E7470 has none.
