Suits engineers and designers needing a certified

This unit targets professionals who rely on certified drivers for CAD, CAE or media applications and who value the Precision line’s build quality. Buyers who need more than 8GB of system memory or a larger boot drive for local datasets should look at a different configuration. Touchscreen workflows are not supported on this panel.

8GB DDR4 2133 soldered memory

The 8GB of DDR4 2133 memory is soldered to the mainboard and cannot be upgraded after purchase. This single specification decides whether the laptop can handle your typical project sizes or whether you must choose a model with higher capacity or user-accessible slots.

Questions about this item

How do I install extra memory in the Precision 5510, and what step is often missed?

Remove the base cover, locate the single SO-DIMM slot, insert the DDR4 2133 module until it clicks, then press down firmly; the step most people miss is fully seating the module before locking it.

What maintenance or replacement will the Precision 5510 need later?

The battery will degrade over time and need replacement; the 256GB SSD can be swapped for a larger drive if storage runs low.

What limit appears first under sustained heavy workloads on the i7-6820HQ?

The 2.7GHz processor will hit thermal limits first, causing clock-speed throttling during prolonged high-load tasks.
