Mobile workstation with Core i7-6820HQ

The DELL Precision 5510 is a 15.6 inch mobile workstation built around an Intel Core i7-6820HQ processor running at 2.70 GHz. It ships with 16 GB of memory and a 480 GB solid-state drive. The non-touch FHD panel shows 1920 x 1080 resolution. Windows 10 is pre-installed. This unit is sold in refurbished Grade B condition.

Included laptop battery and AC adaptor

The bundle supplies the laptop itself, a battery and an AC adaptor so the system can run away from a desk immediately. No optical drive, webcam or external peripherals are provided. Buyers who need a built-in camera for conferencing or an optical drive for legacy media must add those separately. The integrated sound card and internal speakers handle basic audio output without extra hardware.

Integrated graphics and fixed storage limit

Graphics are handled by an integrated card that shares system memory, so 3D rendering, CAD viewport performance and modern gaming will be constrained. The single 480 GB SSD cannot be supplemented by a hard drive inside the chassis, limiting total local capacity. Users who require discrete GPU acceleration or multi-terabyte internal storage should consider a different platform.

Questions about this item

Will the 480 GB SSD need to be replaced once it reaches its write endurance limit?

The 480 GB solid-state drive has no moving parts; typical client workloads reach the laptop's useful life before the drive's write endurance becomes a concern.

Does the Intel Core i7-6820HQ hit its thermal ceiling before the 16 GB of memory fills up during sustained workloads?

The quad-core i7-6820HQ at 2.70 GHz will reach its thermal limit and throttle clock speeds well before 16 GB of system memory is exhausted by normal applications.

How loud do the internal speakers and cooling fans get when the 15.6" FHD panel and Core i7 run all day?

The integrated speakers are modest; under continuous load the cooling fans become audible but remain within typical office background noise levels.
