Dell OptiPlex 7010 Mini Tower desktop

This Dell OptiPlex 7010 Mini Tower desktop delivers a 3rd Gen Intel Core i5-3470 processor with four cores at 3.20 GHz and a 3.60 GHz turbo boost. It ships with 32 GB of DDR3 RAM, a 512 GB SSD plus a 1 TB hard drive, and Windows 10 Pro pre-installed. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 supports up to three displays. A DVD±RW drive, USB keyboard and USB mouse are included.

Upgrade from older office PCs

The quad-core i5-3470 and 32 GB of DDR3 memory replace dual-core systems that struggle with modern multitasking and browser workloads. The 512 GB SSD cuts boot and application launch times compared with mechanical-only storage. Buyers who need dedicated graphics performance or more than three simultaneous displays should look elsewhere.

Straightforward component access

The mini-tower chassis uses standard 240-pin DDR3 slots and 2.5-inch drive bays, so memory or storage changes require only a screwdriver. The proprietary front-panel connectors and Dell-specific power-supply pinout can complicate motherboard or PSU swaps. Verify CPU cooler clearance before fitting taller aftermarket coolers.

Questions about this item

What size drive bays does the Dell OptiPlex 7010 Mini Tower use for the 512 GB SSD and 1 TB hard drive?

The 512 GB SSD is a 2.5 inch drive; the 1 TB hard drive fits in a standard 3.5 inch bay.

How do I install the 32 GB of DDR3 RAM, and what slot mistake should I avoid?

Insert the 240-pin DDR3 modules into the motherboard DIMM slots until the retention clips click; do not mix different speeds or leave a slot half-seated.

Which component will need replacement first to keep the 512 GB SSD and 1 TB hard drive running reliably?

The DVD±RW drive is the only moving part besides the hard drive; plan to replace the mechanical hard drive before the SSD wears out.
