Ready-to-use business desktop

The Dell OptiPlex 7010 Mini Tower arrives with Windows 10 Pro installed and a USB keyboard and mouse in the box. A 3rd Gen Intel Core i7-3770 running at 3.40 GHz with four cores and eight threads handles office suites, web apps and light multitasking. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 drives up to three displays for extended desktop work.

Quiet operation for office spaces

The mini-tower chassis uses standard airflow paths to keep the 3.40 GHz processor and dual-drive storage cool during typical business hours. Fan noise stays low enough for open-plan desks or reception areas. Power draw remains modest thanks to the 650 MHz base graphics frequency and efficient DDR3 memory.

Dual-drive flexibility for data layout

A 2.5-inch 256 GB SSD holds the operating system and frequently used programmes for fast boot and load times. A 1 TB hard drive adds bulk capacity for archives, backups or media libraries. The DVD±RW drive reads and writes optical media, while Gigabit Ethernet provides wired network connectivity. Buyers who need discrete graphics acceleration or more than 32 GB of DDR3 RAM should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How do I install extra DDR3 memory in the OptiPlex 7010 mini tower, and what slot mistake should I avoid?

Power off, open the side panel, and press each 240-pin DIMM straight down until both latches click; the common error is stopping when it feels tight instead of hearing the second click.

Which storage part will likely need replacement first, the 256 GB SSD or the 1 TB hard drive?

The mechanical 1 TB hard drive has moving platters and will usually fail before the solid-state drive, so plan to swap it out after several years of heavy use.

What thermal limit appears first when the i7-3770 runs at 3.90 GHz turbo for long periods?

The CPU hits its maximum junction temperature and throttles clock speeds to protect itself, so sustained turbo requires good case airflow and a clean heatsink.
