Ready-to-use business desktop

The Dell OptiPlex 790 desktop computer ships with Windows 10 Pro installed and 16GB of DDR3 memory. An Intel Core i5-2400 processor runs at 3.10GHz with integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000. A 500GB SATA hard drive provides storage for documents and applications. This configuration suits office tasks, web browsing and legacy software.

Simple internal access

The desktop form factor uses a tool-less chassis that opens without screws for memory or drive upgrades. Four DDR3 slots allow expansion up to the board limit. Integrated graphics means no separate card installation is required. The DVD-ROM drive occupies one 5.25-inch bay. Ensure replacement drives use the SATA interface and DDR3 modules match the installed specification.

Verify your peripherals and software needs

No monitor is included so confirm you have a display with VGA, DisplayPort or HDMI input compatible with the integrated graphics. The system provides four front USB ports for keyboards, mice and other devices. Windows 10 Pro supports domain join and BitLocker for managed environments. Check that any specialised applications run on this processor generation before ordering.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the Intel Core i5-2400 is running at its 3.10GHz speed after setup?

Open Task Manager, select the Performance tab and watch the CPU frequency readout while the system is idle and under load; it should settle around 3.10GHz.

What comes in the box and what must I purchase separately?

The desktop tower, power cable and Windows 10 Pro recovery image are included; a monitor, keyboard, mouse and any additional cables are not supplied.

Which memory type matches the 16GB already installed in this OptiPlex 790?

The system uses DDR3 modules across its four slots, so any upgrade must be DDR3 to be compatible.
