Dell OptiPlex 790 Mini Tower Desktop PC

This Dell OptiPlex 790 Mini Tower is a desktop computer built around an Intel 2nd Gen i5-2400 quad-core processor running at 3.10 GHz with a 3.40 GHz turbo boost. It comes with 16 GB of DDR3 memory, a 256 GB SSD, and a 1 TB hard drive. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed.

Suits everyday office and home tasks.

The system handles web browsing, document editing, and video playback using the integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000. It is not for users who need dedicated graphics performance for modern gaming or intensive 3D rendering. The 265 W power supply limits the addition of high-power expansion cards.

Dual-drive storage with 256 GB SSD and 1 TB HDD

A 2.5-inch 256 GB solid-state drive provides fast boot and application loading, while a 3.5-inch 1 TB hard drive adds bulk capacity for files and media. Both drives are installed and ready to use.

Questions about this item

Will the 265W power supply limit the i5-2400 under sustained heavy loads?

The 265W unit is sized for the stock i5-2400 and integrated graphics; adding a discrete GPU or overclocking would exceed its capacity.

How much noise and heat should I expect from the Mini Tower running all day with the stock cooler?

The Intel HD 2000 graphics and 265W supply keep thermal output modest; the single rear fan typically stays at low RPM during office workloads.

Does the USB wireless dongle need a free USB port, or is Wi-Fi built into the motherboard?

Wi-Fi is provided only by the external USB dongle, so one USB port must remain available for wireless connectivity.
