Dell OptiPlex 790 Mini Tower

This Dell OptiPlex 790 Mini Tower desktop runs on an Intel 2nd Gen i5-2400 quad-core processor at 3.10 GHz with 8 GB of DDR3 memory. It ships with Windows 10 Pro 64-bit installed and includes a USB keyboard, mouse and Wi-Fi dongle. The compact black and silver chassis fits a standard home office or student desk.

Dual-drive storage: 512 GB SSD plus 1 TB HDD

The 2.5-inch 512 GB solid-state drive holds the operating system and frequently used programmes for fast boot and load times. The 3.5-inch 1 TB hard drive adds roomy capacity for media libraries, documents and backups. A DVD±RW drive is also fitted for optical media access.

Upgrade path to 16 GB DDR3

The motherboard supports a maximum of 16 GB of DDR3 RAM, so doubling the memory is straightforward for heavier multitasking. Intel HD Graphics 2000 handles basic display output and video playback but is not suited to modern 3D gaming or GPU-accelerated creative workloads. Buyers needing discrete graphics performance should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Will the 265 W power supply handle a PCIe graphics card I already own?

The 265 W unit powers the i5-2400, 8 GB DDR3, 512 GB SSD and 1 TB HDD; a discrete card must fit within that budget and the Mini Tower length limit.

How can I confirm the Intel HD Graphics 2000 is active after installing Windows 10 Pro?

Open Device Manager, expand Display adapters and verify Intel HD Graphics 2000 appears without a yellow warning icon.

Which cables and peripherals are included so I know what to buy separately?

The box contains the Mini Tower, a USB keyboard, a USB mouse, a USB Wi-Fi dongle and the power cord; a monitor cable is not included.
