Ready-to-use desktop for everyday work

The Dell OptiPlex 790 Mini Tower arrives with Windows 10 Pro 64-bit installed and a USB keyboard and mouse included. An Intel 2nd Gen i5-2400 quad-core processor runs at 3.10 GHz with a 3.40 GHz turbo boost. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR3 memory support multitasking across office applications and web browsing.

Dual-drive upgrade over single-drive systems

A 2.5-inch 512 GB solid-state drive holds the operating system and active files for fast boot and load times. A 3.5-inch 1 TB hard drive adds capacity for archives, media libraries and backups. The combination replaces configurations that rely on a single mechanical drive or a smaller SSD alone.

Suited for home offices and student tasks

Integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000 and a 265 W power supply limit the machine to 2D productivity and video playback. Buyers who need discrete graphics for modern gaming, GPU-accelerated rendering or multiple high-resolution displays should look at a different system.

Questions about this item

Will a 240-pin DDR3 DIMM fit the memory slots on this OptiPlex 790?

Yes, the board uses standard 240-pin DDR3 DIMM slots, so any compatible DDR3 desktop module will seat correctly.

Which screw or latch secures the 2.5" 512 GB SSD inside the Mini Tower chassis?

The 2.5-inch SSD mounts in a drive caddy that slides into a 3.5-inch bay and is held by a tool-less latch; the caddy screws into the SSD first, then the latch locks the assembly in place.

When the 265 W power supply eventually fails, what form-factor replacement should I source?

Order a standard ATX power supply rated for at least 265 watts; the Mini Tower case accepts regular ATX units with the usual 24-pin and 4-pin CPU connectors.
