OptiPlex 790 Mini Tower desktop

The Dell OptiPlex 790 Mini Tower is a new desktop computer built around an Intel 2nd Gen i7-2600 quad-core processor running at 3.40 GHz with a 3.90 GHz turbo boost. It ships with 16 GB of DDR3 memory, a 128 GB 2.5-inch SSD paired with a 1 TB 3.5-inch hard drive, DVD±RW drive, integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000, Gigabit Ethernet and a USB wireless dongle. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed and a USB keyboard and mouse are included.

Home office and student workstation

This system suits home-office users and students who need a ready-to-run PC for everyday productivity, web browsing and light multitasking. The dual-drive layout gives a fast boot drive plus ample bulk storage. Buyers who need more than 16 GB of memory or a modern graphics card for gaming or creative workloads should look elsewhere. The 265 W power supply and Mini Tower chassis limit expansion options.

16 GB DDR3 memory ceiling

The motherboard supports a maximum of 16 GB of DDR3 RAM in 240-pin DIMM slots, and this unit already arrives at that limit. No further memory upgrades are possible without replacing the platform.
