Ready-to-use desktop for home office

The DELL OptiPlex 790 Mini Tower arrives with Windows 10 Pro already installed and a USB keyboard and mouse in the box, so it can be put to work straight away. Its Intel Core i7-2600 quad-core processor at 3.40GHz and 8GB of DDR3 memory handle everyday office tasks, web browsing and video playback without difficulty. The 500GB 3.5-inch SATA hard drive and DVD±RW drive provide local storage and disc access for legacy files.

Simple setup with limited internal room

Only a power cable, monitor lead and network or Wi-Fi connection are required to get started; the USB Wi-Fi adapter plugs into any free port. All four DIMM slots are already populated with 2GB modules, so adding more memory means replacing the existing sticks rather than filling empty sockets. The Mini Tower chassis restricts graphics upgrades to low-profile cards and the proprietary motherboard layout limits aftermarket cooler choices.

Suits general office and study use

This system fits students, home-office workers and anyone needing a quiet, compact PC for documents, email and streaming on a tight budget. Buyers who want faster boot times or application loading should look at configurations with solid-state storage instead of a mechanical hard drive. Users planning modern gaming, video editing or heavy multitasking will need a platform with a newer processor architecture and expandable memory headroom.
