Dell OptiPlex 990 SFF Desktop

The Dell OptiPlex 990 is a Small Form Factor desktop computer built around an Intel Core i7-2600 quad-core processor running at 3.40 GHz. It comes with 8 GB of DDR3 memory, a 500 GB 3.5-inch SATA hard drive and a DVD±RW optical drive. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed and a USB keyboard and mouse are included.

Who this suits and who it does not

This PC suits buyers who want a compact, ready-to-run system for everyday office tasks, web browsing and legacy business applications. It is not for users who need a dedicated graphics card, modern high-speed storage interfaces or the ability to install full-size expansion cards.

The specification that decides fit

The form factor is Small Form Factor (SFF), which limits internal space to low-profile cards and a single 3.5-inch drive bay; verify that your intended upgrades and peripherals fit this chassis before purchase.

Questions about this item

How much heat does the Intel Core i7-2600 3.40GHz produce when running all day in this SFF case?

The small form factor chassis uses a compact internal fan to cool the Intel Core i7-2600 3.40GHz processor and the 500 GB 3.5" SATA hard drive during continuous operation.

What display cable must I already own to connect a monitor to the Intel HD Graphics 2000 output?

The integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000 provides standard video ports on the rear panel; you will need a compatible VGA, DVI or DisplayPort cable that matches your monitor input.

Will my existing DDR3 240-pin memory modules work alongside the installed 8 GB if I expand to 16 GB?

The system uses DDR3 240-pin DIMM slots; any additional DDR3 240-pin modules you add must match the existing memory type to reach the 16 GB maximum.
