Genuine Dell OEM replacement LCD cable

This is a genuine Dell OEM 15.4-inch LCD ribbon cable carrying part number PM501 and 320-5542. It is built as a direct replacement for the display assembly in Dell Inspiron 1520, Inspiron 1521 and Vostro 1500 notebooks. The cable includes the connection required for the integrated webcam.

Reliable signal integrity for daily use

The cable carries the full video signal from the motherboard to the LCD panel and supports all resolutions the panel can display. Because it is a passive ribbon assembly, its performance does not degrade under sustained load; it simply transmits whatever the graphics subsystem provides without added latency or signal loss.

Straightforward swap for compatible models

Installation consists of routing the ribbon through the hinge channel and seating the connectors at both ends, a process familiar to anyone who has opened a laptop display bezel. The only common issue is ordering the wrong part for a different screen size or chassis, so verify the model numbers 1520, 1521 or 1500 before purchase. Builders needing a cable for any other Dell series will not be served by this part.

Questions about this item

Does the PM501 ribbon cable generate heat or draw extra power during continuous use?

No, it is a passive flexible circuit that carries video and webcam signals without active components, so it produces no heat and consumes no additional power.

What must already be installed in the laptop for the PM501 cable to function?

A working 15.4" LCD panel, the motherboard video connector and the webcam module must all be present and undamaged before fitting this replacement ribbon.

Will the PM501 cable work with the original hinges and inverter board from an Inspiron 1520?

Yes, the PM501 is the exact Dell OEM part for the Inspiron 1520, 1521 and Vostro 1500, so it mates with the factory hinges, inverter and webcam connector without modification.
