Half-height blade server with dual 24-core Xeon Platinum 8260 CPUs, 64GB DDR4, dual 1.92TB SSDs, H330 RAID and iDRAC9 Enterprise
Installed Memory Size 64GB
SSD (Installed) 2 x 1.92TB SATA SSD
The Dell PowerEdge M640 is a half-height blade server equipped with two Intel Xeon Platinum 8260 processors. Each CPU provides 24 cores at a base frequency of 2.4 GHz and a 3.9 GHz turbo. The system includes 64 GB of DDR4 2933 MHz registered ECC memory across four modules. It is built for virtualization, private cloud and high-performance computing workloads.
This blade requires a PowerEdge MX or M1000e enclosure for power, cooling and fabric connectivity. The Dell PERC H330 controller manages two 1.92 TB SATA SSDs with support for RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 and 50. A Broadcom 57810S-K dual-port 10 Gb network daughter card provides high-speed I/O. Sixteen DDR4 slots allow memory expansion up to 1.5 TB.
The dual 24-core configuration delivers 56 total threads for continuous multi-threaded throughput. DDR4 2933 MHz registered ECC memory maintains data integrity during extended compute tasks. iDRAC9 Enterprise enables remote monitoring and firmware updates without host downtime. The half-height form factor fits dense deployments while the H330 controller sustains mixed read-write patterns across the SATA SSD array.

Other versions of this model
Each Xeon Platinum 8260 runs at a 2.4 GHz base frequency with a 3.9 GHz turbo, and the pair installed is the maximum processor count the blade supports.
The blade itself contains no fans; cooling is provided by the PowerEdge MX or M1000e chassis fans, whose speed and noise depend on the chassis configuration and total blade count.
The blade requires a PowerEdge MX or M1000e enclosure and a compatible fabric module such as the installed Broadcom 57810S-K 10 Gb dual-port daughter card for network connectivity.
