Half-height blade server with dual 24-core Xeon Platinum 8260 CPUs, 128GB DDR4, S140 controller, and two 960GB SSDs
Installed Memory Size 128GB
SSD (Installed) 2 x 960GB SATA SSD
This Dell PowerEdge M640 is a half-height blade server equipped with two Intel Xeon Platinum 8260 processors, each running at 2.4 GHz with a 3.9 GHz turbo frequency. It includes 128 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across eight 16 GB modules and two 960 GB SATA solid-state drives managed by a PERC S140 controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10. The unit is new and designed for installation in PowerEdge MX or M1000e chassis.
The server targets environments that need high core counts and memory capacity in a compact blade form factor, such as virtualisation clusters, private cloud nodes, and high-performance computing tasks. A Matrox G200 graphics controller with 8 MB video memory provides basic console output only, so buyers requiring GPU acceleration for rendering, AI inference, or VDI graphics should look at alternative platforms.
The system board uses two LGA 3647 sockets populated with the Platinum 8260 CPUs and offers 16 DIMM slots supporting up to 1.5 TB of DDR4 memory. This CPU and memory configuration determines whether the blade matches the performance and capacity requirements of the intended workload.
