1U rack server with Xeon E5-2650 v3 10-core CPU, 48GB DDR4, three 1TB 7.2K SATA drives and H730 RAID controller
Installed Memory Size 48GB
HDD 3 x 1TB
The Dell PowerEdge R430 fits a single Intel Xeon E5-2650 v3 ten-core processor at 2.3 GHz with 48 GB of DDR4 memory into a 1U chassis. It targets workloads that need strong multi-threaded performance in limited rack space such as virtualisation hosts, database nodes or application servers. The system ships without an operating system.
Installed memory maxes out at 48 GB across twelve DIMM slots so larger datasets must live on the three 1 TB 7.2K SATA drives managed by the Perc H730 controller with 1 GB cache. RAID 0 1 5 6 10 50 60 are supported giving flexibility for redundancy or capacity. The eight 2.5 inch hot-plug bays allow up to five more drives when storage demand grows.
This server replaces bulkier 2U units or non-redundant tower systems when rack density and hot-swap power become priorities. The jump is worth it when you need ten cores with hyper-threading and hardware RAID in a single rack unit. Buyers who require dual processors from day one or more than 48 GB of RAM should look at larger platforms.
Measured against everything we stock in Rack & Tower Servers, at today’s prices. Recalculated every night.
