2U rack server with 24 hot-plug 2.5-inch bays, single Xeon E5-2650 v3 10-core 2.3GHz CPU, 16GB DDR4, H730 RAID controller and dual 750W redundant power supplies
Installed Memory Size 16GB
HDD None
The Dell PowerEdge R730XD fits twenty-four 2.5-inch hot-plug drive bays into a two-rack-unit chassis, delivering up to 52 terabytes of raw capacity. A single Intel Xeon E5-2650 v3 with ten cores at 2.3 GHz and 16 GB of DDR4 memory handles compute, while the integrated Perc H730 RAID controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Dual 750 W redundant power supplies and a DVD-ROM complete the baseline configuration.
This platform suits teams that prioritise local SAS or SATA storage volume over GPU compute or multi-processor scaling. The single-socket layout leaves the second CPU socket empty for future expansion, and six PCIe 3.0 slots plus a dedicated RAID slot provide I/O flexibility. Organisations requiring more than one processor, GPU acceleration or included operating system licences should evaluate other platforms.
The defining constraint is the twenty-four front-accessible 2.5-inch bays, which set the storage ceiling at 52 TB with current drives. If the workload demands fewer bays, deeper 3.5-inch support or a smaller rack footprint, a different server chassis will be a better match.

Other versions of this model
The server uses an Intel C610 chipset that supports the Xeon E5-2650 v3 processor; a second CPU of the same family can be added in the second socket.
The H730 controller supports both SAS and SATA drives, so legacy 2.5" disks can be used in the 24 hot-plug bays.
Connect the dedicated iDRAC network port, then browse to the IP shown on the LCD panel; the login prompt confirms the controller is active.
