Four-socket 3U rack server with four Xeon Gold 6134 processors, 512GB DDR4, H730P controller, dual 300GB SAS drives and redundant 1600W power
Installed Memory Size 512GB
HDD 2 x 300GB 10K SAS
CPU Model Gold 6134
The Dell PowerEdge R940 is a 3U rack server built for mission-critical workloads that demand maximum processor density. Four Intel Xeon Gold 6134 processors deliver thirty-two cores at 3.20 GHz with 3.7 GHz turbo frequency. The system targets organisations running large databases, virtualisation clusters or real-time analytics where uptime and raw throughput are paramount.
The platform is populated with the maximum of four CPUs in LGA 3647 sockets on the Intel C620 chipset. No further processor expansion is possible, so buyers needing more than thirty-two cores must look beyond this chassis. The PERC H730P controller with 2 GB cache manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across the SAS backplane.
Installed memory stands at 512 GB across sixteen 32 GB DDR4 2666 MHz registered ECC modules, leaving thirty-two open slots to reach the 6 TB ceiling. Two 300 GB 10K SAS drives provide a starting point; the eight 2.5-inch bays can accept additional SAS or SATA drives for capacity growth. Network connectivity uses a quad-port daughter card with two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ links.

Other versions of this model
Four 8-core Xeon Gold 6134 CPUs deliver 32 cores and 64 threads at a 3.2 GHz base clock with 3.7 GHz turbo, giving strong multi-threaded performance for virtualization and database workloads.
The H730P supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 at 12 Gb/s SAS/SATA with a 2 GB cache, so drive throughput is limited by the installed 10K SAS disks rather than the controller.
The unit occupies 3U of rack height and ships with Ready Rails sliding rails and a front bezel for standard 4-post rack installation.
