Mobile workstation with Xeon E3-1535M v5

The Dell Precision 7510 is a 15.6-inch mobile workstation built around a 2.9 GHz quad-core Xeon processor with 8 MB cache. It ships with 16 GB DDR4 memory and a 1 TB M.2 SATA SSD. Graphics are handled by a dedicated Quadro M2000M with 4 GB GDDR5. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed.

Suits CAD and ISV users.

Engineers and designers running certified CAD or ISV applications will benefit from the Xeon CPU and Quadro professional graphics. The Full HD non-touch display and Thunderbolt 3 port support external multi-monitor setups. Buyers who need more than 16 GB RAM or faster M.2 storage will find the platform limited. Gamers seeking consumer GeForce features should look elsewhere.

Quadro M2000M 4 GB GDDR5 decides fit

The dedicated Quadro M2000M with 4 GB GDDR5 is the specification that determines suitability. It provides certified drivers for professional 3D and video applications. If your workflow relies on GPU compute or large texture sets, the 4 GB frame buffer may be a constraint. For general office use the integrated Intel Iris Pro Graphics P580 is sufficient.

Questions about this item

How hot does the Xeon E3-1535M v5 get under sustained load?

The quad-core Xeon E3-1535M v5 runs at a 2.9 GHz base speed and will throttle when its thermal limit is reached, so extended heavy workloads are capped by the cooling capacity built into the 15.6 inch chassis.

How loud is the fan and how warm does the keyboard deck get during an all-day render?

The Precision 7510 uses a dual-fan layout that becomes clearly audible under full CPU and Quadro M2000M load, and the keyboard deck warms noticeably after several hours of continuous work.

Which dock or adapter do I need to run two external monitors from the Thunderbolt 3 port?

The single Thunderbolt 3 port carries DisplayPort 1.2 signals, so a Thunderbolt 3 dock or a USB-C to dual DisplayPort adapter is required to drive two external displays simultaneously.
