Mobile workstation for CAD

The Dell Precision 7730 is a 17.3-inch mobile workstation built around an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8750H six-core processor and an NVIDIA Quadro P3200 GPU with 6 GB GDDR5 memory. It targets engineers and designers who need certified driver stability for computer-aided design applications in a portable silver chassis. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed.

Build integration and I/O

The system ships with 16 GB of DDR4 RAM and a 128 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD, leaving internal slots free for additional storage upgrades. Connectivity includes two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, one Thunderbolt 3 port, HDMI 2.0, and a headphone/microphone combo jack for docking or external displays. A Dell AC adapter is included in the box.

Upgrade context and value

This unit replaces older mobile workstations that lack Thunderbolt 3 or modern NVMe boot drives, delivering a noticeable jump in single-thread speed and professional graphics certification. Buyers who need larger local datasets or multi-GPU rendering should consider configurations with higher-capacity SSDs or discrete graphics beyond the Quadro P3200 class.
