Precision 7730 mobile workstation

The Dell Precision 7730 is a 17.3-inch mobile workstation built around an 8th-generation Intel Core i7-8750H six-core processor. It carries 64 GB of DDR4 memory and a 128 GB NVMe SSD. An NVIDIA Quadro P3200 with 6 GB GDDR5 drives the FHD IPS panel. Windows 11 Pro is installed.

Silver chassis with Thunderbolt 3

The silver chassis houses a non-touch 1920 x 1080 display with 72 % colour gamut coverage. Connectivity includes two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, one Thunderbolt 3 port, HDMI 2.0 and a headset jack. The dedicated Quadro GPU and hexa-core CPU are cooled by Dell's thermal design for sustained workloads.

Upgrades from integrated graphics laptops

This configuration replaces laptops that rely on integrated graphics for CAD or 3D modelling. The Quadro P3200 delivers certified driver stability for professional applications. The jump is worth it when ISV certification and dedicated video memory are required for daily engineering tasks.

Questions about this item

What does the Thunderbolt 3 port support for external displays?

The Thunderbolt 3 port can drive an external monitor at up to 4K resolution while also providing data and power through a single cable.

What internal storage slots are available for upgrades?

The laptop uses an M.2 PCIe NVMe slot for the 128 GB boot drive; a second M.2 slot is typically present for adding another solid-state drive.

How do I install a second M.2 SSD without damaging the connector?

Insert the drive at a 30-degree angle until the gold fingers seat fully, then press it flat and secure it with the single retention screw.
