Mobile workstation for CAD and simulation

The Dell Precision 7730 pairs an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8750H six-core processor with 32 GB DDR4 memory and a dedicated NVIDIA Quadro P3200 graphics card with 6 GB GDDR5 video memory. It targets engineers and designers who need certified driver stability for professional 3D applications. The 17.3-inch FHD IPS panel covers 72% colour gamut at 1920 x 1080 resolution.

Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0 set the external

One Thunderbolt 3 port and one HDMI 2.0 output drive additional monitors, while two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports handle peripherals. The integrated 256 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD offers no secondary drive bay, so storage expansion relies on external devices. Wireless connectivity uses a combined Wi-Fi and Bluetooth module without a version number in the data.

Factory-assembled chassis requires no user build

The laptop ships with Windows 10 Pro pre-installed and a Dell AC adapter included. Opening the case to add memory or storage voids the manufacturer seal and risks damaging the thin thermal solution. Buyers who want more storage or a second GPU must choose a different form factor.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 256 GB SSD or a larger drive option?

The 256 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD is the storage fitted to this unit; the supplier notes other configurations exist but this listing is for the 256 GB version.

What does the 4.10 GHz turbo speed mean for daily workloads?

The six-core i7-8750H runs at 2.20 GHz base and can reach 4.10 GHz on fewer cores, giving strong single-thread response for CAD and compilation tasks.

What does Thunderbolt 3 actually cap in this laptop?

The single Thunderbolt 3 port provides up to 40 Gb/s bandwidth for external GPUs, dual 4K displays or fast NVMe storage enclosures.
