Five-pair in-ceiling system

The Earthquake Sound R650 package supplies five matched pairs of 6.5-inch in-ceiling speakers for whole-home audio. Each unit handles 300 W and presents an 8-ohm load that most amplifiers drive easily. The silk-dome swivel tweeter directs high frequencies toward the listening area. This set suits installers who need consistent coverage across multiple rooms.

Frequency response and headroom

The drivers reproduce 40 Hz to 21 kHz at 93 dB sensitivity, giving clear output from modest power. Bass extends to 40 Hz, but deeper sub-bass requires a separate subwoofer. The 12 dB/octave crossover protects the tweeter thermally while blending the drivers. Large venues or reference-level home theatre may exceed the available excursion.

Magnetic grille and mounting

An edgeless, paintable grille attaches magnetically for a flush ceiling blend. The Turn ’N’ Lock mechanism secures the speaker in a 200 mm cut-out with 101 mm mounting depth. Spring-loaded terminals accept bare wire quickly. The 228 mm overall diameter fits standard joist bays, while the bumped back basket allows full cone travel.

Questions about this item

Will the 8-ohm impedance R650 speakers work with my older stereo receiver?

Yes, the 8-ohm impedance is compatible with most vintage and modern amplifiers that support 8-ohm loads.

How can I verify the 12 dB/Octave crossover and thermal tweeter protection are functioning after installation?

Listen for smooth transition between the 6.5" woofer and 1-inch silk dome tweeter across the 40Hz-21kHz range without harshness at high volumes.

Do the five pairs include the magnetic grilles and Turn ‘N’ Lock mounting hardware, or must I buy them separately?

The package includes five pairs of speakers with paintable magnetic grilles and the integrated Turn ‘N’ Lock mechanism; no extra mounting parts are required.
