Indoor/outdoor all-weather speaker

The JBL AWC82 is a compact two-way coaxial loudspeaker built for permanent installation in exposed locations. Its 7.87 inch Kevlar woofer and 0.98 inch polymer composite tweeter cover 80 Hz to 20 kHz at 94 dB sensitivity. The 8 ohm impedance suits standard amplifier outputs. A zinc-rich powder-coated steel U-bracket is included for surface mounting.

Mounting and system integration

The supplied U-bracket allows wall or ceiling attachment without additional hardware. At 12 inches high and 11.8 inches wide the enclosure fits tight soffits and narrow overhangs. The 8 ohm nominal load lets the speaker run directly from most commercial amplifiers without a matching transformer. One unit is sold per package so stereo pairs require two speakers.

Sustained-output behaviour

Rated at 250 W RMS the driver assembly handles continuous programme material in stadiums, water parks and cruise-ship decks without thermal compression. The 94 dB sensitivity means moderate amplifier power produces high sound-pressure levels over long periods. The weather-resistant cabinet and coated bracket resist corrosion from salt spray and pool chemicals during extended outdoor duty.

Questions about this item

How low does the 8-inch Kevlar woofer extend before bass output drops off?

The woofer reaches down to 80 Hz, so frequencies below that will roll off noticeably during sustained playback.

After hours of continuous operation does the 94 dB sensitivity keep the amplifier cool or push it harder?

At 94 dB sensitivity and 8 ohms nominal impedance the speaker draws modest power, so most amplifiers stay cool even during all-day use.

The box includes a U-bracket but no wire — what gauge speaker cable is needed for the 8-ohm terminals?

Standard 16-gauge or thicker speaker wire works with the 8-ohm binding posts; no proprietary connector is required.
