Enhanced control for 24VAC systems

The ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced EB-STATE6L-01 is a hardwired climate controller with a 4 in. full-colour LCD touchscreen at 540 x 540 pixels. It manages most 24VAC HVAC equipment including conventional, heat-pump and dual-fuel setups. Built-in radar sensors detect occupancy and proximity while monitoring temperature and humidity. Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple HomeKit voice control are supported alongside SmartThings and IFTTT automation.

Suits owners who want radar-based automation

Homeowners who prefer occupancy detection without adding separate room sensors will benefit from the integrated radar. The package includes a Power Extender Kit for installations lacking a C-wire and a trim plate to cover existing wall marks. Buyers needing multi-room temperature averaging should look elsewhere because no additional SmartSensor is included. Households without 24VAC heating or cooling equipment cannot use this thermostat.

Radar occupancy and proximity sensing

The decisive specification is the onboard radar that senses both occupancy and proximity, allowing the thermostat to adjust set-points automatically when nobody is home and to wake the display as you approach. This single feature drives the energy-saving logic quoted at up to 26% per year versus a 72 °F hold and removes the need for separate motion accessories in many installations.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box with the EB-STATE6L-01 and do I need to buy anything extra?

The package includes the thermostat, mounting plate, quick-start guide, wire labels, screws, drywall anchors, Power Extender Kit and trim plate. No extra parts are required for a standard installation.

The spec lists radar occupancy and radar proximity sensors — how do I decide if I need those versus a basic model?

Radar occupancy detects when someone is in the room and radar proximity wakes the display as you approach, so the thermostat can adjust automatically and show information without being touched.

The headline claims up to 26% savings versus a 72°F hold — what does that mean once the unit is on my wall?

Compared with keeping the temperature fixed at 72°F, the thermostat learns your schedule, lowers heating or cooling when the house is empty and pre-conditions before you return, which can cut annual energy costs by up to 26%.
