LIVA Z Plus Mini PC i5-7200U

This ECS Elitegroup LIVA Z Plus is a new mini desktop powered by a dual-core Intel Core i5-7200U at 2.70 GHz with 3 MB Smart Cache and Intel HD Graphics 620. It ships with 8 GB DDR4 SODIMM, a 256 GB PCIe NVMe SSD and Windows 10 Pro pre-installed. Connectivity includes 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, Gigabit Ethernet, three USB 3.0 ports, one USB 3.1 Type-C Gen1, HDMI and mini DisplayPort. A 65 W power supply is included.

Suits compact office or signage roles.

The small footprint and integrated graphics make it a good fit for general productivity, web browsing, video playback or digital signage behind a display. Buyers who need discrete graphics performance, more than two CPU cores or user-replaceable 2.5-inch storage should look at larger systems. The 8 GB of soldered DDR4 cannot be expanded and the single NVMe slot limits future capacity upgrades.

256 GB PCIe NVMe SSD is the boot drive

Windows 10 Pro and applications load from the 256 GB NVMe solid-state drive, providing fast start-up and responsive file access in the compact chassis. No mechanical hard drive is present, so total storage is fixed at 256 GB unless the M.2 module is swapped. Ensure this capacity meets your data requirements before purchase.

Questions about this item

Will the 8 GB DDR4 SODIMM need replacing if I want more memory later?

The board uses a single DDR4 SODIMM slot, so any capacity increase means swapping the installed 8 GB module for a larger one.

What limits performance first when the Core i5-7200U runs at its 3.10 GHz turbo for long periods?

The 65 W power adapter and the Mini PC’s compact thermal envelope will throttle the dual-core chip before the 3 MB Smart Cache or integrated HD 620 graphics become bottlenecks.

How loud and hot does the LIVA Z Plus get when it is left on all day?

Passive convection cooling keeps the 1.5-inch-high chassis near ambient temperature and completely silent during typical office workloads.
